Experimenting with Beetroot
This was probably the first time I've tasted beetroot. And you know what? It tastes somewhat similar to corn on a cob, but stronger.
I made spicy beetroot soup.
Ingredients
1 big onion, coarsely sliced
1 tin of sliced carrots (lazy me)
1 tomato, coarsely sliced
2 medium potatoes, diced
2 medium beetroots (pre-cooked), diced
Salt
Pepper
Chilli, to taste
Vegetable Oil
1 litre of water
Bisto Onion gravy pellets
Steps
Sweet, earthy and quite savoury. Leftovers can be re-used in a pasta dish, perhaps.

Steps
- Pour out some vegetable oil, enough to coat the base of pan. Heat on medium setting.
- When oil is hot enough, toss in the onion slices. Wait until fragrant.
- Add the potatoes and other ingredients.
- Add water. Add salt and pepper. Add the Bisto Onion gravy pellets.
- Add chilli to taste.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer for half an hour.
